CfA Postdoctoral Fellowship

The mission of the CfA Postdoctoral Fellowship program at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory is to support innovative astrophysics research by offering to the next generation of developing independent researchers full access to the unique facilities, research staff and resources of the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian.
To be eligible, applicants must be officially awarded their PhD on or after January 1, 2023 and before September 2024. The official eligibility date is the date that an applicant is officially awarded their PhD according to the granting institution.
Appointments last for 3 years, with renewal for a fourth year likely, contingent upon satisfactory progress.
- Stipend of $79,500, with an annual cost-of-living increase
- Research budget of $18,000 for each year
- Funding for health and dental benefits for the Fellow (and dependents if applicable), which are provided at no cost to the Fellow
- One-time relocation allowance
Selection will be made by December 15, 2023.
